Medicare Part D Compliance Services

On February 8, 2006 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued updated guidance outlining the responsibilities of Medicare Part D plan Sponsors related to detecting and preventing fraud, waste and abuse. The new draft guidance appears in the Prescription Drug Benefit Manual in Chapter 9 - Part D Program to Control Fraud, Waste and Abuse.

Based on these guidelines as well as the recently released CMS Audit Guide, Polaris provides an extensive discussion of the methods Part D Sponsors can use to meet statutory and regulatory requirements so that they have a plan in place for detecting, correcting, and preventing fraud, waste and abuse as an element of their overall compliance programs as well as the guideline by which to audit their downstream and related entities. Polaris has the relevant expertise to offer implementation recommendations, training and education, and recommended procedures for self-reporting fraud, waste, and abuse. In addition, Polaris has developed a risk assessment methodology to aid our clients in determining the highest priority areas of compliance need.
