State Reporting & Aggregate Spend
As of year end 2006, six states and the District of Columbia have passed legislation requiring some form of reporting or disclosure of marketing expenses and gifts to physicians.
Unfortunately,
- There are at least 15 other states with pending legislation in this area.
- There are no consistent reporting requirements or definitions of reportable expenses
Polaris has worked with both large pharmaceutical clients as well as smaller biotech clients to meet immediate reporting requirements as well as to develop business processes and technology platforms to support evolving reporting requirements and the need to understand a company's aggregate spend with specific physicians and institutions.
Key issues:
- Interpreting disclosure / reporting requirements.
- Prioritizing data collection efforts.
- Identifying operational changes to minimize system development costs
